Pavement Rehabilitation - Crowchild Trail NW

Calgary, Alberta

About

Volker Stevin Contracting (VSC) was contracted by the City of Calgary to rehabilitate the southbound lanes of Crowchild Trail NW between 12 Mile Coulee Road and the Tuscany LRT station. Work included milling and repaving the existing asphalt road, and an application of a fog sealant to the shoulders. The objective of this project was to improve rideability, safety and overall condition of the roadway while minimizing the impact to traffic flow during construction.

Service Scope

As the prime contractor VSC was responsible for safety, quality control, scheduling, and overall coordination of the project. VSC crews completed the fog seal and asphalt pavement. Asphalt milling was subcontracted and managed by our project management teams.

Pavement Rehabilitation - Midlake & Sundance

Calgary, Alberta

Volker Stevin Contracting was contracted by the City of Calgary to rehabilitate several arterial and residential roadways in the communities of Midnapore and Sundance. Work included the removal and replacement of concrete curb and gutter, adjustment of utilities, asphalt milling, and paving. The objective of this project was to provide a high-quality finished product while minimizing the disruption to local residents and businesses.

Service Scope

As the prime contractor, VSC was responsible for safety, quality control, scheduling, and overall coordination of the project. Our crews completed the adjustment of utilities and placement of asphalt pavement. VSC also provided pedestrian and traffic accommodation in collaboration with City of Calgary crews. Concrete work and asphalt milling were subcontracted and managed by our project management teams.

Rocky Moutain Motor Sports

Carstairs, Alberta

About

The project consisted of upgrading local roads, the new construction of three new access roads and the new construction of a 3.5km paved racetrack. The client’s objective was to have the main racetrack surface paved and operational, in a reduced capacity, by the fall of 2021.

Service Scope

The local roads were upgraded with new horizontal alignments and received new asphalt road structures. The new access roads provide access to the racetrack, holding ponds and new lift stations that were constructed for the project. These roads received new gravel and asphalt for driving surfaces. The racetrack consists of 3.5km of asphalt surface with concrete curbs strategically placed for racing conditions.
